I recently explained something to someone and they suddenly asked if I was dyslexic, I think of myself as someone somewhat smart since I could top in my school by just watching anime and reading novels so although I know this is a bad habit I still thought I was nore than moderate... but when I explained I had hyperphantasia they asked if I was dyslexic, I explained how I have imaginations as though a video plays in my mind I could change it with a thought, pov, imagine the feeling and all that... but I would be dazed while doing so😂 another thing is that I seem to jump from one thought to another and as you may see idk or find it hard to use punctuations and just straight up go with it😅

I have difficulty spelling few time to time and it can be frustrating and agitating and cause of forgetting words or my alphabetical words or the words that are lined are and how they are pronounced and then I have to repronounce the words again it always happen but honestly say that I'm Usually used to it now but can be a nuisances in different pieces and different ways and being forgetful with things can be annoying when you have to forget a simple word or the most easiest words with having dyslexia but I have mild dyslexia it's not severe I'm grateful for that but I do forget to remember things that's a problem with me though that can be rough and be irritating and be a annoyance but what else can I say if anyone read this much! appreciative and if anyone else has dyslexia or any other symptoms don't let frustrate like it does it to me it can be a shemozzle but I would say it's normal to me normality to me pretty much but that's all for now.

However I have always known I have dyslexia ( reading age of a nine-year-old ) in addition to this, I have always known I have Irland syndrome as well . I was so lucky to be with a teaching assistant as a one-to-one all the way through school. I don’t understand how the adhd was missed as the teaching assistants were always putting me back to task in lessons ( I did not read or write anything during the school day except in my special classes )

I am a living manifestation of dyslexia.

  • @mandlin4602

This is never talked about, like people always assume mild dyslexia is intelligent dyslexia and profound is essentially mentally handicapped. Dyslexia should be called a spectrum disorder because it really is a spectrum. I’ve got severe dyslexia, I couldn’t say more than a few words till I was 4. Couldn’t tell the time or spell my own name till I was 14. My current level Of writing only got to this quality at around the age of 23. I’ve basically had to self teach. Many people including mildly dyslexic people don’t really understand severely dyslexic folk, I’ve known a few profoundly dyslexic people in my life including my own father and grandmother and tbh I just think they are severe dyslexic with less time in school. I went to uni Too it forced me to learn how to write. My dad and his mother left school at 14 and 13 respectively, so I think the only difference between severe and profound is exposure to opportunity to learn. It’s just the shitty society we are in push us down.

Has anyone else experienced an inability to enjoy new music the first time they hear it? An audio book I listened to implied dyslexics might not have an ability most people do which allows most people to enjoy music they had never heard before. I got this from a book called "This is your brain on music." In one part they explained how the brain can derive pleasure form music it has never heard before. Its has something to do with a timing center of the brain that anticipates and enjoys the completion of patterns in rhythm and melody. In another section, it mentions in passing that dyslexia is (or can be) a defect in this timing center. All my life I had this issue and never realized it. The first time I listen to a new CD, my experience is rather bland and my memory of the experience is almost always "Mehhhh..." On the second or third listen, suddenly its pleasant to me. Years back, I bought a CD by a favorite artist and listened to it. I didn't enjoy it AT ALL and even offered to give it to a friend. Then, on the day I was to give it to the friend, I played it one more time and I enjoyed EVERY song. There was not one song that I didn't really like. It was a favorite artist after all so I should have known better than to give it away so quickly. But I have had little experiences like that all my life.

My issue is.... How to get them to WANT the tutoring? I'm sure my son will be willing to try. But my girls, not so much. :'(

That's a great question! A lot of that depends on the tutor. If a tutor is engaging and fun, then students tend to really enjoy tutoring and be invested in it. We offer a free trial, if you are interested. Our tutors are very engaging and fun! Have a great day! www.dyslexiaconnect.com/

I relate to a lot of symptoms but I never say anything,I’m still a kid and my mum brought up getting me tested and called my English teacher. But because I spell mostly alright I was told I didn’t need a test. So imma just forget about it and watch a ton of these to try and somewhat test myself cuz hell nah will I ever talk to my parents. I feel like enough of an attention seeker already lol

I was the kid who memorized spellings yet still to this day struggle with daily sight words. Spell check has been a life saver. I also memorized words based on someone speaking them to me and recognizing what they looked like but struggled with words that I couldn’t remember how they sounded. I mixed up orders of words when speaking or reading and was constantly made fun of because of it. My teachers would tell my parents that all I needed to do was to just slow down. When in reality I couldn’t spell a word out loud even when looking at it and didn’t really understand most words even though I loved to read (really I just loved stories and had a wild imagination.) I would even vastly misunderstand the whole point of some stories! I discovered in college when taking a educational psychology class that I wasn’t stupid, just dyslexic and have really begun to understand myself and have more sympathy with other dyslexics out there. (I just spelled dyslexic wrong and autocorrect saved my butt again.) Thank you to this channel and others like it spreading the word about how dyslexia works and the degrees of verity. I wish I had more dyslexic training when I was younger. .
